Home > Allergy from smoke of the bushfires

When the country is literally on fire our health suffers. You may have noticed the persistent smog in the air, and although it does make for a very pretty sunset, it is not good for your health. Unfortunately, it’s unavoidable, but there is still hope for staying healthy and strong during this stressful time.

Australia always suffers from bushfires, but this year has been the worst any of us at MorKare have ever seen. Throughout the last month, we have seen an astronomical number of people coming in with lung conditions. Coughing so badly that they can’t sleep and are getting sick, Shenaz and Rhiannon are working together to keep yours and your family’s health off your chest.

Morkare has designed and formulated a special Homeopathic remedy that has helped many with allergy reactions aggravated from the smoke. This remedy helps with cough, wheezing, chest tightness, itchy eyes, and runny nose. This remedy is available to collect without a prescription or consultation.

The Problem:

The air is currently filled with all sorts of particles that irritate our lungs. Smoke, dust, and disease are blowing on these hot winds. A few weeks ago this was passing through, but now with all the fires, it has settled over our beautiful city of Brisbane. With our irritated lungs, we have the urge to cough, but the particles aren’t going away, so we keep coughing. If you are coughing at night and losing sleep, you’ll be feeling exhausted. That lack of sleep, as well as the constant strain on your lungs, is going to weaken yours and your children’s immune systems, leading to colds, cases of flu and an inflamed respiratory tract. Asthma and bronchitis are going crazy at the moment.

How We Can Help:

At MorKare, we work together to combine natural therapies and reduce those stressful symptoms. By keeping up the nutrients your body is burning through, reducing your stress, strengthening your immunity and clearing your lungs, we stop you from getting any worse. There are few things more stressful than a sick child, so Shenaz has put together a fantastic homeopathic remedy that works like magic for the current situation.

Things You Can Do:

There are a few things you can do to keep yourself and your family in the best shape possible.

  1. Eat your veggies steamed or slow-cooked.

It sounds simple, but fresh fruit and veg steamed will keep most of the nutrients your body needs to be locked inside, as well as an abundance of antioxidants (aunty who?). Slow-cooked meals are easier to digest if you’re exhausted and you can sneak veggies in when your kids are picky eaters

  1. Clean with eucalyptus oil

Eucalyptus is one of the strongest natural antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal products we use at MorKare and in our homes. But eucalyptus also helps clear and support your lungs. By sprinkling a few drops on a handkerchief and breathing it in regularly, you can keep your lungs clean and strong.

  1. Use Lavender oil on pillow and pyjamas

Most of our sleeps have been disturbed by coughing or feeling like you can’t breathe. By using lavender oil on your pillow or pajamas, you’re able to soothe your stress and keep your lungs gently nurtured throughout the dry nights.

  1. Prop yourself up so you’re not laying flat

Sometimes just by propping yourself up slightly can stop your cough entirely. By laying down any fluid, mucous or dust in your lungs has a larger space to settle onto, but sitting up just a little can help shrink that space and reduce your cough. For some people, it’s enough to get the good night’s rest they need.

  1. Drink plenty of clean water

Water clears, cleans and hydrates us all day long, but in this dry, windy heat, it’s important to drink even more. At least 2 liters or 8 glasses spaced out over the day will help clean out your tonsils and moisten your throat. The last thing you want is a dry barking cough because you didn’t have another sip of water.

  1. Bonus tip: Stay indoors, put your air conditioning on recycling indoor air, make sure you clean the vents in your air-con regularly.

Most air conditioners have a setting where they recycle the air in your home. By changing to this setting, you don’t suck in dust, dirt, and smoke from outside, keeping the inside of your home and lungs clean. Sorry to all the outdoorsy people, but right now you should be staying inside until all this smog passes.

And finally, get hold of a good air conditioning cleaner and make sure you clear your vents regularly. I also recommend wiping the tops of your ceiling fans once a week, just to be sure that you’re breathing the cleanest air.

I hope this has been helpful to you. It’s important to keep each other in good health, so if you know of any tips for keeping your lungs in good shape share them below. Also, if you’re not feeling well, come in and pick up your homeopathic remedy soon so that little tickle in your throat doesn’t turn into a big problem.
